Hello Cinema fans, welcome to my blog. I am back again with another horror movie. Most of you have already seen it (maybe), so I have decided to review it. As you guys know I am a horror movie lover so most of the times you will see me reviewing horror movies or series. Today's movie of the day is "Truth or Dare" released in 2018. It's very old but I have watched it recently, I had it in my watchlist for a long time but I have never got the opportunity to watch it.

I have watched another movie like this one which is called "Smile 2", I will review that in another blog. The IMDB rating of "Truth or Dare" is 5.2/10 but I believe that the ratings could be better because this movie was good not that bad. I don't get it why it has such low ratings. If you ask for my personal opinion then I would say this movie was horrifying to watch. The storyline was simple nothing complicated or exaggerated. Also, there's no unnecessary jump scares. I really hate it when they add jumps scare into the movie for no reason and it annoys me a lot.

Plot

The story begins with our protagonist Olivia Barron. Her bestfriend is Markie Cameron. Markie has a boyfriend and their common friends decided to go on a trip to Rosarito, Mexico. At first Olivia was not willing to go anywhere as she was busy with her work but Markie and her friends convinced her to go with them. In Mexico, Olivia runs into Ronnie who tried to harass her but a stranger named Carter came between them he had saved her. Olivia and Carter have met for the first time but Carter easily lures her and her friends in an abandoned church. Carter also got them into playing a game it's called “Truth or Dare” and later Ronnie also joined them.

Eventually, while playing Carter reveals that he had tricked everyone to offer them instead of his place in the game of Truth or Dare. Before leaving he also told Olivia that the game is real everyone must continue and if they refuse to play then they would die. No one believed at first and everyone went back to their home. However, the game began and they realized a demonic force has attached itself to the game. If you refuse to play or if you are lying or being unable to complete the dare leads to horrifying consequences. Their journey begins as they want to undo their curse.

Trailer & Review

When I saw Lucy Hale in the trailer, it made me excited because I have watched her before, and I like her as an actress because she is amazing. So, I admire every movie she does. For that reason, I was interested in watching this movie. Their smiles are freaky, it bothers me a lot. If someone smiled at me like that, I would run away. Their smiles reminded me of the "Smile 2" movie. I’ve seen a few reviews where people found this movie funny because of the smile. Actually, if you haven’t watched "Smile"-related movies, then it’s a new thing for you, and it’s definitely okay to cringe because it’s something new you are seeing. We are only used to seeing horrible ghost faces, not something smiling. We usually see ghosts as scary entities that hunt us down and kill people.

What I liked about this movie is that there was twist after twist, and the ending was totally unexpected. Anyway, if you watch the movie from a different perspective rather than the "evil entity" doing the killing we see that the people who participated in the game are being forced to do the dirty deeds because they got possessed, and we get to see the harsh reality of choices.

I think every movie has its own unique concept, and I accept that wholeheartedly. Everything is fantasy, and we watch movies for fun not to find logic in everything. I’m a little biased toward this movie because of Lucy Hale. Anyway, the other actors and actresses did a really good job; they looked pretty real. The deaths are portrayed in a horrible way they are not easy to watch. There’s nothing particularly scary, but the disturbing scenes will definitely make you feel something. The age rating is PG-13 because there’s violence and some sexual content.

Overall, it's a very unique and original movie. I want everyone to watch this movie and ignore the bad reviews. This movie tried to do something new, so there’s no reason to hate it. There will be different kinds of horror movies, and I’m tired of seeing the same thing over and over again. I feel this movie has something different, which may not be understandable to everyone.
