Kurahime to Koikarasu: A Must Read Supernatural Romance!
Konnichiwa minna-san~ It's been a while since the last time I posted something here. How are y'all? I've been really busy with other stuff, that's why even though I've finished anime and manga series these past few weeks I wasn't able to share them. Speaking of manga! I just reread a one-shot manga I finished last year, and guess what I've found out...it's already serialized!!! Due to the popularity of its one-shot, it was serialized this year. I just read the first two chapters, and I'm really excited to follow their story further. So, to give you a glimpse of what this manga is all about, allow me to share with you a brief peek at their world where supernaturals and exorcists exist.
About the Manga
Kurahime to Koikarasu or The Twilight Princess and the Amorous Raven is a manga written and illustrated by Oosora Akira. Like I've mentioned, it was from a supposedly one-shot manga, but since it was finally serialized, more chapters are expected to come up soon. Its story was all about Asaki, a genius exorcist who hunts wraiths—yokai that feed on resentment. They're basically like earthbound spirits, only they're much more violent and troublesome. Anyway, since she has a special ability to locate them easily, she immediately slays them without much hassle.
However, despite her prodigious nature, she was alone. It's not only the normal people who regarded her as odd, but also her fellow exorcist, and that's why she's extremely worried that she won't be able to make friends again. She begged her grandfather to let her retire from her peculiar job, and he agreed only that—of course, he had a condition. She needs to capture her family's sworn enemy, the Yatagarasu clan. She readily agreed to that condition, not knowing that everything would soon change as soon as she met the mysterious yet charming transfer student, Amahara Ten.
Its plot wasn't really that complicated nor full of twists—rather, it's the opposite. I know you probably deduced who really is Amahara Ten, yet despite that, it's kinda predictable how the story will go. Still, I'm pretty much excited about the next yokai they'll feature. I think I already mentioned here before that I'm fond of supernatural stuff. Plus, it has action in it, and the bonus part is its romance subplot. I don't know if it's just me, but I like it more if romance is a subplot in the story rather than it being the main focus. I guess it feels more thrilling for me if the romance isn't that much directly implied.
Aside from the supernatural stuff, what made me reread its one-shot is how cute and beautiful the art style is. The yokai weren't really terrifying, but their character designs were interesting! Also, I like how the interaction between Asaki and Ten where wholesomely drawn. I love that despite that she's badass, she still has a cute and soft spot. And Ten...ahhhh he's so fine—he's definitely eye candy. I can't really say he's hot because he looks more cute than hot, but certainly there are times he looks like that hehe.
Perhaps the only aspect that I felt it lacked was its action part. I felt that there isn't much of it from the oneshot version nor in the first two chapters of its spin-off. But it wasn't much of a big deal right now, since it's still new and I know more fights are coming—hopefully with much stronger and tougher yokai! I think I've shared enough for now, yes...I wanna share more, but I'm afraid I'll spoil much if I do that haha. So if you're interested in this manga, then feel free to check it out, and who knows, you might as well like it!
Well, that's all for now, fellow otaku. Hope you're all doing well and yeah, hope to see you around also.
