Hello! To all you fans of good stories, I hope you're doing well. This time, I'm excited to share a new review with you. Today I'll be talking a bit about the book: El reflejo de la bruja (The Witch's Reflection) by Raiza Revelles and, uff, we need to talk... I mean, look, the cover is absolutely gorgeous, and all the art they released to promote it—those spectacular illustrations of the protagonists, Lena and Keiler—completely sold me. I went into this expecting an epic fantasy with romance, the whole witchy vibe, and one of those breathtaking enemies-to-lovers stories. And look, I did get a bit of that, but my experience was a roller coaster of emotions. Let's start with what I think defined my entire reading experience: the marketing. With everything I saw, I built up a story in my head where the dynamic between Lena, the witch, and Keiler, the demon, was the heart of everything from the very beginning. So you can imagine my surprise when I realized that the two of them, seriously, don't start interacting until page 104!

In a book that's about 345 pages long, that's a huge wait! During that entire first third of the book, my mind was in: "Okay, where's the guy? When does the story the drawings promised me begin?" mode. It felt a bit like marketing bait. Mind you, I don't think it was malicious or anything, but the book they sold me with the images wasn't exactly the one I was holding. It felt less like an epic witch story and more like a love story that took forever to get to the romance part.

Amigos fanáticos de las buenas historias, espero que estén bien, en esta ocasión vengo con ganas de compartirles una nueva reseña, está vez les hablaré un poco de el libro: El reflejo de la bruja de Raiza Revelles y, uff, tenemos que hablar.. es que, a ver, la portada es una cosa preciosa y todo el arte que sacaron para promocionarlo —esas ilustraciones espectaculares de los protas, Lena y Keiler— a mí me compraron por completo, yo entré a esto esperando una fantasía épica, con romance, con todo el rollo de las brujas y un enemies to lovers de esos que te dejan sin aire.. a ver, sí recibí un poco de eso, pero mi experiencia fue un sube y baja de emociones. Vamos a empezar por lo que, yo creo, marcó toda mi lectura: el marketing, con todo lo que vi, yo me armé en la cabeza una historia donde la dinámica entre Lena, la bruja, y Keiler, el demonio, era el centro de todo desde el inicio.. así que ya se imaginarán mi cara de sorpresa cuando me doy cuenta de que ellos dos, en serio, no empiezan a interactuar hasta la página ¡104!

En un libro que tiene como 345 páginas, ¡eso es esperar un montón! Durante todo ese primer tercio del libro, mi mente estaba en modo: «Ok, ¿y el chico? ¿En qué momento empieza la historia que me prometieron los dibujos?».. se sintió un poco como un bait de marketing. Ojo, no creo que con mala intención ni nada, sino que el libro que me vendieron con las imágenes no era exactamente el que tenía en las manos, se sintió menos como una historia épica de brujas y más como una historia de amor a la que le costó un mundo arrancar para llegar a la parte del romance.

Now, BUT, I have to say that the world-building, and especially the magic system, is one of the best things about the book. It's insane... it felt super authentic, like she really did her research. It completely immerses you in that atmosphere. You can tell the author knows her stuff and is passionate about the whole Wicca thing because she pours it onto every page. The way she describes the spells, the concept of familiars, the mythology, like the references to Hecate... it all feels so real, as if she truly investigated it.

It pulls you right into the story. Something that did surprise me, and in a good way, were the scenes that get really dark and even gory—the kind that make you say, "this feels like it's from a horror movie." For a young adult book, wow! It made the magic feel real. But well, not everything was perfect. There was a very weird mix that clashed a lot, between this mystical, ancient world and super modern things. I mean, one moment they're talking about covens and centuries-old rituals, and on the next page, boom, a cell phone is mentioned. For me, that completely broke the spell; it took me right out of it. I finished the book and had absolutely no idea where it was set. I had to find out from other reviews that the story takes place in Ireland. That really made me mad; it seemed like a massive missed opportunity.

Ahora, PERO, tengo que decir que la construcción del mundo, y sobre todo el sistema de magia, es de lo mejorcito que tiene el libro, es una locura.. sea, se se sintió súper auténtico, como que de verdad le investigó, te mete por completo en esa atmósfera.. se nota que la autora le sabe y le apasiona todo el rollo de la Wicca, porque te lo plasma en cada página, la forma en que te describe los hechizos, el rollo de los familiares, la que sí me agarró de sorpresa, y para bien, fueron las escenas que se ponen bien oscuras y hasta t mitología, como las referencias a Hécate... todo se siente súper real, como si de verdad se hubiera puesto a investigar.

Te mete de lleno en la historia.. algo que me sacó de onda, hay partes que son súper gore, de esas que dices "esto parece sacado de una película de terror".. para ser un libro juvenil, ¡wow!, hizo que la magia se sintiera real, pero bueno, no todo fue perfecto.. había una mezcla rarísima, que chocaba mucho, entre este mundo místico y antiguo con cosas súper modernas.. o sea, en un momento te están hablando de aquelarres y rituales de hace siglos, y a la página siguiente ¡pum!, te mencionan un celular.. a mí eso me rompía toda la magia, me sacaba por completo.. terminé el libro y no tenía ni la más remota idea del lugar, me tuve que enterar por otras reseñas de que la historia sucede en Irlanda.. ahí sí me dio rabia, me pareció una oportunidad gigantísima que se fue a la basura.

And now, moving on to the romance... when it finally gets going, it honestly started off looking great. The initial buildup is a slow burn, it feels real, their first conversations have that good kind of tension, and you can truly feel the chemistry forming between them. But suddenly, around the middle of the book, boom! The relationship accelerates at a thousand miles an hour. We go from a slow-cooking romance to an "I love you forever" in a couple of chapters, and it felt super forced, way too fast. After all that waiting, the first kiss, which was supposed to be THE payoff, was a massive disappointment. The scene was described in a way that left me completely cold. It was, to be frank, a letdown. So, who might like this book?

Look, if you're a fan of the whole witchy aesthetic and are looking for a story with a dense, dark, magical atmosphere, you'll find things to love here. The gore scenes are an incredible surprise, and the main idea is good. But if you're coming for the epic romance with perfect pacing, you might be disappointed. You have to be patient with the slow start and forgive some of the weird things about the setting and how rushed the romance feels. In the end, I give El reflejo de la bruja a 3.5/5. The Wiccan world, so well-crafted and with such a strong atmosphere, along with the horror touches, was what I liked the most. But the book is weighed down by its inconsistent pacing, that strange mix of modern and ancient elements, and a romance that, despite having so much potential, felt rushed and ended in a way that left a bad taste in my mouth. It's a book with a huge heart and a fascinating world, but it needed a little more polishing in its execution. And well, that's it for today's review, take care! See you in the next one! Byebye!

Y ahora, pasando al romance... cuando por fin arranca, la verdad es que pintaba súper bien.. el buildup al principio es a fuego lento, se siente real, sus primeras pláticas tienen esa tensión chida, interesante, y de verdad sientes cómo se va formando la química entre ellos. Pero de repente, como a la mitad del libro, ¡pum!, la relación se acelera a mil por hora.. pasamos de un romance que se cocinaba lento a un "te amo para siempre" en un par de capítulos y se sintió súper forzado, demasiado rápido.. después de toda esa espera, el primer beso, que se supone que era LA recompensa, fue una decepción masiva. La escena la describieron de una forma que me dejó completamente frío.. fue, para serles franco, un bajonazo, entonces, ¿a quién le podría gustar este libro?

Miren, si son fans de toda la estética de brujas y buscan una historia con una atmósfera mágica, densa y oscura, aquí van a encontrar cosas que les van a encantar.. las escenas gore son una sorpresa increíble y la idea principal es buena. Pero si vienen buscando el romance épico con un ritmo perfecto, chance y se van a decepcionar, hay que tenerle paciencia al inicio lento y perdonarle algunas cosas medio raras de la ambientación y lo apurado que se siente el romance.. al final, yo le doy a El reflejo de la bruja unaw 3.5/5. El mundo wiccano, tan bien logrado y con esa atmósfera tan marcada, junto con los toques de terror, fue lo que más me gustó.. pero al libro le pesa mucho el ritmo que sube y baja, esa mezcla extraña de cosas modernas y antiguas, y un romance que, aunque tenía muchísimo potencial, se sintió apresurado y cerró de una forma que me dejó mal sabor de boca, es un libro con un corazón enorme y un mundo fascinante, pero le faltó pulirlo un poquito más en la ejecución.. y bueno, hasta aquí la reseña de hoy, cuidense mucho!
