I swear it gives you chills, it's super intriguing and leaves you with that little thing in your body. The truth is, with this beginning, it's perfect to read it on a Halloween night with a blanket and a hot coffee... but what blew my mind the most was how the book combines mystery with a touch of the supernatural... the whole time you are left wondering what is real and what is not. Is there any truth in those dark arts or is it all a trap or clever tricks?

That doubt that stays in your head creates an atmosphere that completely absorbs you and doesn't let you go, Christie achieves this by combining super detailed descriptions of spooky places with dialogues that make you question reality at all times... the characters, when facing the unknown, reflect both not believing anything and fear, and that makes the mystery even more intense... besides, this place and its connection with the supernatural constantly remind you that something bad is about to happen, keeping you super tense and expectant, you know something can happen... And the characters, especially Mark Easterbrook and Ginger, feel very authentic in their confusion and determination to figure it all out, Mark, with his calm scholar personality, and Ginger, with her adventurous and energetic personality, make an amazing team, yes, their romance moves fast, but considering everything intense they are living, it feels totally real, or at least that's how I felt, I ended up rooting for them a lot, not only to solve the mystery, but also as a couple....

Hola a todos, amigos fanáticos de la lectura, espero hoy se encuentren súper bien, en esta ocasión les quiero dar una nueva reseña, hoy les hablaré del lindo: The Palé Horse de Agatha Christie y.. uf, desde el comienzo, este libro te engancha con un asesinato súper raro de un cura y una lista de nombres escondida en su zapato.. es algo que sin duda es único jaja, te quedas pensando al instante qué significan esos nombres y por qué alguien mataría para mantenerlos en secreto, después, la autora te presenta un lugar súper turbio que se llama The Palé Horse, que se rumorea que está conectado con brujería y cosas oscuras.. les juro que da escalofríos, es súper intrigante y te deja con esa cosita en el cuerpo. La verdad, con este inicio, es perfecto para leerlo en una noche de Halloween con una cobija, y un café caliente.. pero lo que más me voló la cabeza fue cómo el libro combina el misterio con un toquecito de lo sobrenatural.. todo el tiempo te quedas pensando qué es real y qué no. ¿Será que hay algo de cierto en esas artes oscuras o es todo una trampa o trucos inteligentes?

Esa duda que te queda en la cabeza crea un ambiente que te absorbe por completo y no te deja ir, Christie logra esto combinando descripciones súper detalladas de lugares tenebrosos con diálogos que te hacen cuestionar la realidad en todo momento.. los personajes, al enfrentarse a lo desconocido, reflejan tanto el no creer nada como el miedo, y eso hace que el misterio sea aún más intenso.. aparte, este lugar y su conexión con lo sobrenatural te recuerdan constantemente que algo malo está por suceder, manteniéndote súper tenso y expectante, sabes que algo puede pasar.. Y los personajes, en especial Mark Easterbrook y Ginger, se sienten muy auténticos en su confusión y en su determinación por descubrir todo, Mark, con su personalidad calmada de erudito, y Ginger, con su personalidad aventurera y llena de energía, hacen un equipo increíble, sí, su romance avanza rápido, pero considerando todo lo intenso que están viviendo, se siente totalmente real, o al menos eso sentí yo, terminé apoyándolos un montón, no solo para que resolvieran el misterio, sino también como pareja..

Something that has always blown my mind about this author is how she describes the places, they are super vivid! in this book, seriously, she did her best, The Pale Horse itself, with all its fame as a sinister place, feels like another character in the story.. that she uses Ariadne Oliver, that character that appears in several books and is like her ironic double, gives it a very clever touch of humor that I loved, there's a part where Ariadne complains about the typical questions that writers get asked, and it's so real and funny haha, so you feel like it's Christie herself venting through her. But not everything is perfect in the book... the plot sometimes feels a bit jumbled, especially in the beginning, too many things going on: murders, weird diseases, seances and a bunch of really weird characters... it's easy to get lost and not know who is who or how they connect.. but when the pieces start to fit together, ouch! It's super satisfying, that they focus more on the 'how' the crimes happen and not so much on the 'who' did them, it's something different and refreshing, but chance not everyone will like it, that I can understand, if you are one of those who love the classic 'who did it' Christie's, this book feels a little different..

Another thing I noticed is that the supernatural, although interesting, may not convince everyone, these supernatural things change the atmosphere of the book, give it a more mysterious and weird touch that doesn't feel like the typical crimes of this author... uses doubt if everything has a logical explanation or if there really is something supernatural, it makes the atmosphere darker, but also some who prefer more logical stories may not like it so much, I personally find that ambiguity gives more vibe to the story, although I understand that not everyone likes it. . here it's played to a limit between the mysterious and what has a logical explanation, I loved that ambiguous vibe, it kept me hooked and gave more atmosphere to the book in general, but it may seem frustrating or even disappointing to certain types of readers, so be warned.

Algo que siempre me ha volado la cabeza de esta autora es cómo describe los lugares, son súper vívidos! en este libro, en serio, se lució, The Pale Horse en sí, con toda su fama de lugar siniestro, se siente como un personaje más de la historia.. que use a Ariadne Oliver, ese personaje que aparece en varios libros y que es como su doble irónico, le da un toque de humor muy inteligente que me encantó, hay una parte donde Ariadne se queja de las típicas preguntas que le hacen a los escritores, y es tan real y gracioso jaja, así sientes que es la propia Christie desahogándose a través de ella. Pero no todo es perfecto en el libro.. la trama a veces se siente un poco revuelta, sobre todo al principio, pasan demasiadas cosas: asesinatos, enfermedades raras, sesiones de espiritismo y un montón de personajes rarísimos.. es fácil perderse y no saber quién es quién ni cómo se conectan.. pero cuando las piezas empiezan a encajar, ¡uff! Es súper satisfactorio, que se enfoquen más en el 'cómo' pasan los crímenes y no tanto en el 'quién' los hizo, es algo diferente y refrescante, pero chance no a todos les guste, eso lo puedo entender, si eres de los que aman los clásicos '¿quién lo hizo?' de Christie, este libro se siente un poco distinto..

Otra cosa que noté es que lo sobrenatural, aunque es interesante, es posible no convenza a todos, estas cosas sobrenaturales cambian el ambiente del libro, le dan un toque más misterioso y raro que no se siente como los típicos crímenes de esta autora.. usa duda de si todo tiene una explicación lógica o si de verdad hay algo sobrenatural, hace que el ambiente sea más oscuro, pero también puede que a algunos que prefieren historias más lógicas no les guste tanto, a mí, personalmente, esa ambigüedad me parece que le da más onda a la historia, aunque entiendo que no a todos les guste.. aquí se juega a un límite entre lo misterioso y lo que tiene explicación lógica, a mí me encantó esa onda ambigua, me mantuvo enganchado y le dio más ambiente al libro en general, pero puede ser que para cierto tipo de lector les pueda parecer frustrante o hasta decepcionante, así que van advertidos.

There is an idea that goes around about how easy it is to manipulate people, either with superstitions or with more modern psychological tricks... it is something that leaves you thinking, and the truth, it is a little scary, there is also the social theme that gets into the story, where Christie makes fun of the superstitious wave of that time and reflects on how the world was changing, it is subtle, but it gives more depth to the plot. For me, the best parts were the moments of laughter and when Christie makes fun of herself, the vibe between Mark and Ginger, and the twists at the end that, as always, left me with my mouth open.. I also really liked how they used Ariadne Oliver's character...it's like a wink for those of us who are fans...

Hay que hablar ahora de los temas que toca este libro, hay una idea que ronda por ahí sobre lo fácil que es manipular a la gente, ya sea con supersticiones o con trucos psicológicos más modernos.. es algo que te deja pensando, y la verdad, da un poquito de miedo, también está el tema social que se mete en la historia, donde Christie se burla un poco de la onda supersticiosa de esa época y reflexiona sobre cómo estaba cambiando el mundo, es sutil, pero le da más profundidad a la trama. Para mí, lo mejor fueron los momentos de risa y cuando Christie se burla de sí misma, la onda que hay entre Mark y Ginger, y los giros del final que, como siempre, me dejaron con la boca abierta..también me gustó mucho cómo usaron al personaje de Ariadne Oliver.. es como un guiño para los que somos fans..

Si recomiendo este libro, pero ojo, con algunas advertencias, si recién estás empezando con Agatha Christie, tal vez este no sea el mejor para empezar.. es un poco diferente a sus libros más famosos, pero si ya eres fan y buscas algo un poco distinto, ¡este es perfecto! es entretenido, te hace pensar y te mantiene siempre alerta... al final, le doy un 4/5 estrellas, es disfrutable, no es perfecto, pero me gustó un montón y muestra lo buena que es Christie para escribir de todo.. así que, ya sea que lo leas por el misterio, el ambiente o por lo inteligente que es, este libro tiene algo para ti.. y bueno amigos lectores, esto es todo por hoy, cuéntenme si ya conocían esta historia, nos veremos en las siguientes reseñas, cuídense, byebye.
