Hello everyone, fans of good stories, I hope you're doing great today, dear Movies and TV Shows community, "The Black Phone" left me super intrigued, at first I didn't really know what was going on, but when I found out that this movie was based on a story by Joe Hill... Stephen King's son! That's when my curiosity got piqued, let's be clear: yes, the fact that he's King's son can put your expectations through the roof, but Joe Hill has long since shown that he's much more than "the son of...". The guy has his own way of telling stories, and "The Black Phone" is proof, the movie grabs you from minute one with that murky, claustrophobic vibe, a super original idea and that mix of terror that gets to your guts with a supernatural touch that... left me surprised, but at the same time, sensitive... from the beginning, the story hooks you with the central idea: a kidnapped boy, locked in a dark basement, and suddenly... a phone that isn't connected to anything starts ringing!

But these aren't normal calls, this phone connects you to the voices of the kidnapper's previous victims... receiving messages from ghosts telling you how to survive... Crazy! Every time that phone rang, I was on the edge of my seat, my heart racing, wondering who was going to talk next, what new clue they were going to give, it's like a great twist on the typical haunted house stories, and the tension in those moments is incredible... I have to admit that when I saw the trailer, I wasn't really convinced, the idea seemed very exaggerated, I don't know... But after seeing the movie, it shut my mouth, the way the story leads you, perfectly balances the real terror of a kidnapper with the most chilling fear of the supernatural. "The Black Phone" is not one of those movies that scare you with easy jump scares, no, no... it's a well-made experience, that mixes the terror that can happen to you with the unknown in a very good way.

Hola a todos, fanáticos de las buenas historias, espero que estén genial hoy, querida comunidad de Movies and TV Shows, "The Black Phone" me dejó super intrigado, al principio no sabía muy bien qué onda, pero cuando me enteré que esta peli estaba basada en un cuento de Joe Hill.. El hijo de Stephen King! Ahí ya me picó la curiosidad, seamos claros: sí, que sea hijo de King te puede poner las expectativas por las nubes, pero Joe Hill hace rato que demostró que es mucho más que "el hijo de...". El tipo tiene su propia onda para contar historias, y "The Black Phone" es la prueba, la película te atrapa desde el minuto uno con esa onda turbia, claustrofóbica, una idea súper original y esa mezcla de terror que te llega a las tripas con un toque sobrenatural que.. me dejó sorprendido, pero a la vez, sensible.. desde el comienzo, la historia te engancha con la idea central: un chico secuestrado, encerrado en un sótano oscuro, y de repente.. un teléfono que no está conectado a nada empieza a sonar!

Pero que no son llamadas normales, este teléfono lo conecta con las voces de las víctimas anteriores del secuestrador.. recibir mensajes de fantasmas que te dicen cómo sobrevivir... ¡De locos! Cada vez que sonaba ese teléfono, yo estaba al borde del asiento, con el corazón a mil, preguntándome quién iba a hablar ahora, qué pista nueva le iban a dar, es como una vuelta de tuerca genial a las típicas historias de casas embrujadas, y la tensión en esos momentos es increíble.. Tengo que admitir que cuando vi el tráiler, no me convenció mucho, la idea me parecía como muy exagerada, no sé... Pero después de ver la película, me cerró la boca, la forma en que la historia te va llevando, equilibra perfecto el terror real de un secuestrador con el miedo más escalofriante de lo sobrenatural. "The Black Phone" no es de esas películas que te asustan con sustos fáciles, no, no.. es una experiencia bien hecha, que mezcla el terror que te puede pasar a ti con lo desconocido de una manera muy buena.

The film is almost always told through the eyes of the boy, which makes it very real, you get fully involved in the story... seeing how it shows fear, the desire to move forward and those little moments of hope... it touched my soul, it reminded me a bit of the children in "It": real, with their flaws, super human, even if they are caught up in a supernatural problem... there is something that really grabs you when you see a little boy facing a monster, not only one of flesh and blood, but also those voices from beyond that demand justice. And speaking of monsters... we can't leave out the Raptor! The masked villain played by Ethan Hawke, wow, his performance is from another planet, it hypnotizes you... although we hardly see his face because he is always wearing masks (watch out, masks designed by Tom Savini, a genius of horror makeup), he still steals every scene! There's something very murky about a villain when you don't really know who he is. Every time he appears on screen, the tension skyrockets. You feel like his silence is hiding something... the film drops hints about where he's coming from, but never tells you everything clearly.

And that, somehow, makes it even more terrifying. It reminded me of those classic villains from "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," you know? Sometimes, what you don't know scares you the most. One of the film's strong points is the atmosphere. Almost everything happens in a tiny, dark basement, a place that already gives you claustrophobia. Every shadow, every little noise... it makes your hair stand on end! Using a single, tiny location makes you fully concentrate on the story and the characters, and that's where the film excels. The simplicity of the production makes each scene feel urgent, and every time the phone rings, you're there, clinging to hope, just like the protagonist.

La peli te la cuentan casi siempre desde los ojos del chico, lo que la hace muy real, te metes de lleno en la historia.. ver cómo muestra el miedo, las ganas de salir adelante y esos momentitos de esperanza.. me llegó al alma, me hizo acordar un poco a los niños de "It": reales, con sus fallas, súper humanos, aunque estén metidos en un problema sobrenatural.. hay algo que te atrapa mal cuando ves a un chico pequeño enfrentando un monstruo, no solo de carne y hueso, sino también esas voces del más allá que piden justicia. Y hablando de monstruos.. no podemos dejar de lado al Raptor! El villano enmascarado que hace Ethan Hawke, wow, su actuación es de otro planeta, te hipnotiza.. aunque casi no le vemos la cara porque está siempre con máscaras (ojo, máscaras diseñadas por Tom Savini, un genio del maquillaje de terror), ¡igual se roba cada escena! Hay algo muy turbio en un villano que no sabes quién es realmente, cada vez que aparece en pantalla, la tensión sube como la espuma, sientes que su silencio esconde algo.. la peli te tira pistas de dónde viene, pero nunca te dice todo claramente.

Y eso, de alguna manera, lo hace más aterrador todavía, me hizo acordar a esos villanos clásicos de "La Masacre de Texas", ¿saben? A veces, lo que no conoces te da más miedo, uno de los puntos fuertes de la peli es la atmósfera.. casi todo pasa en un sótano chiquito y oscuro, un lugar que ya de por sí te da claustrofobia, cada sombra, cada ruidito del lugar... ¡te pone los pelos de punta! Usar un solo lugar así, chiquito, hace que te concentres a full en la historia y en los personajes, y ahí es donde la peli destaca, lo simple de la producción hace que cada escena se sienta como urgente, y cada vez que suena el teléfono, estás ahí, aferrado a la esperanza igual que el protagonista.

I really liked how the director decided to shoot the film, the way the camera captures every gesture, showing how innocent she is at first and how she gradually grows stronger. It connects with you in an incredible way! It's not one of those movies you just watch; if you really get into it, you can feel it... for me, that's what makes horror really work: when it completely captures you. And look, almost the entire film takes place in one location, but the staging keeps you in suspense the entire time; every shot is designed so that you don't relax for a second. Obviously, no film is perfect. In this one, for example, I felt that some secondary characters, especially the ghosts the protagonist talks to, seemed to need a little development.

Sometimes I wanted to know more about their lives, to fully understand what kept them glued to that phone... but, well, that lack of information also adds more mystery, and in a way, even gives you more suspense. It's like a puzzle with missing pieces, and it leaves you with that strange feeling in your body. Another thing that caught my attention is that the film makes you think a little about horror itself... at first it seems like just a kid locked in a basement with a kidnapper, but it has a deeper vibe about how strong people can be and how hope appears when you least expect it. The voices of the lost kids, although they break your heart, are like a struggle to not be forgotten, a tremendous desire to help those who can still be saved. It's a powerful message that gives the film an emotional touch.

Me gustó mucho como el director decidió rodar la película, la forma en que la cámara agarra cada gesto, mostrando lo inocente que es al principio y cómo se va haciendo fuerte, te conecta de una manera increíble! No es de esas pelis que solo ves, si te adentras bien, puedes sentirla.. para mí, eso es lo que hace que el terror funcione de verdad: cuando te atrapa por completo. Y mira que casi toda la película pasa en un solo lugar, pero la puesta en escena te mantiene en tensión todo el rato, cada toma está pensada para que no te relajes ni un segundo, obvio, ninguna peli es perfecta, en esta, por ejemplo, sentí que algunos personajes secundarios, sobre todo los fantasmas con los que habla el protagonista, como que les faltaba un poquito de desarrollo.

A veces me quedaba con ganas de saber más de sus vidas, entender bien qué los tenía pegados a ese teléfono.. pero bueno, esa falta de info también le da más misterio, y en cierto modo, hasta da más cosita, es como un rompecabezas al que le faltan piezas, y te deja con esa sensación rara en el cuerpo. Otra cosa que me llamó la atención es que la peli te hace pensar un poco sobre el terror en sí.. al principio parece solo un chico encerrado en un sótano con un secuestrador, pero tiene una onda más profunda sobre lo fuerte que puede ser la gente y cómo la esperanza aparece cuando menos te lo esperas, las voces de los pibes perdidos, aunque te parten el alma, son como una lucha para que no los olviden, unas ganas tremendas de ayudar a los que todavía pueden salvarse. Es un mensaje potente que le da un toque emocional a la película.

While watching "The Black Phone", I was constantly between scared and hopeful. There were moments of such tension that I felt trapped there on the screen, just when I couldn't take it anymore, a phone call that gave you a break, a light at the end of the tunnel. A roller coaster of emotions that had me glued to my seat. Without spoiling too much, I'll tell you that the ending is like a strange mix between relief and unanswered questions... just what you expect from a movie that wants to leave you thinking and with goosebumps! After thinking about it, I would give "The Black Phone" an 8/10, just about right. There are little things that could have been explained better, like where the villain came from or what was up with some secondary characters, but those small flaws don't take away from how great the movie was overall... in fact, they even add to that atmosphere of mystery and tension, leaving you thinking and talking afterwards.

It's one of those movies that makes you want to watch it again to catch details you missed the first time... it was interesting to see how they blended the real terror of a kidnapper with the greater fear of the supernatural. That combination isn't easy, but when it works well, like this one, it leaves you with an experience that captivates and unsettles you... and well, that's all for today. Mientras veía "The Black Phone", estaba todo el tiempo entre asustado y con esperanza, había momentos de tanta tensión que me sentía atrapado ahí en la pantalla, justo cuando ya no aguantaba más, una llamada telefónica que te daba un respiro, una luz al final del túnel. Un sube y baja de emociones que me tuvo pegado al asiento, sin spoilearles mucho, les digo que el final es como una mezcla rara entre alivio y preguntas sin respuesta... ¡justo lo que esperas de una peli que te quiere dejar pensando y con la piel de gallina! Después de pensarlo bien, yo le daría a "The Black Phone" un 8/10, así, redondito.. hay cositas que podrían haber explicado mejor, como de dónde salió el villano o qué onda con algunos personajes secundarios, pero esas pequeñas fallas no le quitan lo genial a la película en general.. de hecho, hasta le suman a ese ambiente de misterio y tensión, te dejan pensando y charlando después.

Es de esas pelis que te dan ganas de verla otra vez para pillar detalles que se te pasaron la primera vez.. fue interesante ver cómo mezclaron el terror real de un secuestrador con el miedo más grande de lo sobrenatural.
