Hello everyone, book fans, I hope you're having a great day. This time, I want to talk a little about Crave by Tracy Wolff. Okay, I'm almost certain that many of you were die-hard Twilight fans. To be honest, I read those books quite a while ago... so you can imagine my face a few weeks ago when I was browsing for books, as always, and suddenly I stumbled upon this. I mean, guys, the aesthetic was IDENTICAL: the black, white, and red colors, the single object on the cover, the super vague one-word title... even the font! I said to myself, "There's no way this has nothing to do with it." But when I picked it up, I saw it was by a different author, a completely different series. It was like that meme, "Sure, you can copy my homework, but change it up a bit so it's not obvious." They didn't even bother here!

So, obviously, I came fully prepared to tear this book apart. I picked it up for a laugh, you know? I thought, "Well, I'm a sucker for vampire romances, it's my number one guilty pleasure. It'll be a light, entertaining read. It's probably a cheap copy and I'm going to die laughing." But no, I ended up hooked. Okay, first things first: a lot of people are saying that Crave is like the new Twilight, a modern version. I need you to get that idea out of your heads... forget about it, seriously! Besides the fact that yes, it's about a human girl and a vampire in a school with a lot of tension... deep down, it's NOTHING like Twilight. The story is about a girl, Grace, who, after her parents die in a car accident, has to move from sunny San Diego to the middle of nowhere in Alaska.

She goes to live with the only family she has left: her uncle Finn and her cousin Macy, at a super isolated boarding school called Katmere Academy, where her uncle is the headmaster. Obviously, she's completely lost, doesn't understand anything, and immediately runs into the typical mysterious, emo guy, Jaxon Vega, who is super moody and distant with her but, of course, she can't stop thinking about him. You quickly realize that something very strange is happening at that school, that not everything is as it seems. I'll stop there with the plot because, really, I want you to discover it for yourselves.

Hola a todos, fanáticos de la lectura, espero que hoy estén sten genial, en esta ocasión, les quiero hablar un poco sobre Crave de Tracy Wolff.. a ver, estoy casi seguro de que muchísimos de ustedes eran fans a morir de Crepúsculo, la verdad, leí esos libros hace bastante.. así que imagínense mi cara hace unas semanas, cuando andaba viendo libros, como siempre, y de repente me encuentro con esto.. es que, amigos, la estética era IDÉNTICA: los colores negro, blanco y rojo, el objeto X en la portada, el título de una sola palabra súper vago… ¡hasta la tipografía! Yo dije: "no hay forma de que esto no tenga nada que ver". Pero cuando lo agarré, ví que era de otra autora, otra saga completamente diferente, fue como el meme de "Sí, te paso la tarea, pero cámbiale algo para que no se note". ¡Acá ni se molestaron!

Así que, obvio, yo ya venía preparadísima para venir a destrozar este libro.. lo busque para reírme un rato, ¿saben? Pensé: «Bueno, soy una víctima de los romances de vampiros, es mi placer culposo número uno. Me va a servir para una lectura ligera, entretenida. Seguramente es una copia barata y me voy a morir de la risa». Pero no, terminé enganchado, a ver, primero lo primero: muchísima gente anda diciendo que Crave es como el nuevo Crepúsculo, una versión moderna. Necesito que se saquen esa idea de la cabeza.. olvídense de eso, en serio! Fuera de que sí, trata de una chica humana y un vampiro en una escuela con muchísima tensión… en el fondo, no se parece en NADA a Crepúsculo, la historia va de una chica, Grace, que después de que sus papás mueren en un accidente de auto, tiene que mudarse de la soleada San Diego a la mitad de la nada, en Alaska.

Se va a vivir con la única familia que le queda: su tío Finn y su prima Macy, a un internado súper aislado que se llama Academia Katmere, donde su tío es el director.. obviamente, ella está súper perdida, no entiende nada, y al toque se topa con el típico chico misterioso y emo, Jaxon Vega, que es súper pesado y distante con ella pero, ¡claro!, ella no puede dejar de pensar en él. Rapidito te das cuenta de que algo muy raro pasa en esa escuela, que no todo es lo que parece, hasta ahí les cuento de la trama, porque de verdad, quiero que lo descubran ustedes mismos.

Look, if I have to describe this book in one word, it would be: ADDICTIVE... just like that, in all caps. I devoured it in a day and a half, and it's a brick of over 600 pages! Seriously, I couldn't stop reading. It had been YEARS since a book hooked me like this. In fact, this book pulled me out of a HUGE reading slump I was in. It made me laugh out loud, it had my heart in my throat with the suspense, and the ending... the ending had me LITERALLY screaming at the pages! I was in shock... a real emotional rollercoaster. Okay, let's be honest... this isn't a masterpiece of world literature, okay? It's not Shakespeare or anything like that. The writing style at times feels... a little immature. The story is in the first person, and Grace, the protagonist, sometimes has thoughts that are kinda... silly, so to speak.

At first, you do think, "ugh, how childish," but you get used to it super fast and suddenly you're laughing to yourself at the things she thinks. Something I found super fun and original is how the chapters are structured. They're short, like five pages, but the titles are super long and random; they're entire sentences. I mean, you have titles like "Vampire Queens Aren't the Only Ones with a Nasty Bite" or my absolute favorite, "Things Fuchsia Pink and Furry Styles Have in Common"... there's even a reference to "Watermelon Sugar" by Harry Styles! It felt super current and fun. But, not everything is perfect. The book is one of those that starts slow, you know? It took me about 150 pages, around chapter 20, to really get hooked. I was this close to dropping it, but I'm so glad I didn't, because what comes next... uff, it's totally worth it.

I also felt that the author sometimes got a bit too descriptive, throwing in paragraphs and paragraphs of information that felt unnecessary, and I honestly just skipped those parts to get back to the good stuff, the action. But look, even with those minor details, the story itself is super good. Unlike Twilight, I feel the characters here are much better developed. Grace isn't just the girl who falls in love and that's it; she has her own stuff going on, her own things that are changing her. And Jaxon, although he's the typical mysterious guy, is truly a sweetheart and is romantic in a way that feels fresh and different. The story is much more mature and exciting than I ever imagined.

Miren, si tengo que describir este libro con una sola palabra, sería: ADICTIVO.. así, en mayúsculas, me lo eché en día y medio, ¡y eso que es un ladrillo de más de 600 páginas! De verdad, no podía dejar de leer. Hacía AÑOS que un libro no me enganchaba de esta manera, es más, este libro me sacó de un bloqueo lector GIGANTE que traía. Me hizo reír a carcajadas, me tuvo con el corazón en la boca por el suspenso, y con el final… ¡el final me tuvo LITERALMENTE gritándole a las páginas! Quedé en shock.. una montaña rusa de emociones, de verdad, a ver, seamos honestos.. esto no es la gran obra de la literatura universal, ¿ok? No es Shakespeare ni nada por el estilo, la forma de escribir a ratos se siente… un poquito inmadura, la historia está en primera persona, y Grace, la prota, a veces tiene unos pensamientos medio… bobos, por así decirlo.

Al principio sí piensas como «ay, qué infantil», pero te acostumbras súper rápido y de repente ya te estás riendo sola con las cosas que piensa, algo que me pareció súper divertido y original es cómo están hechos los capítulos.. son cortitos, como de cinco páginas, pero los títulos son larguísimos y súper random, son frases enteras. O sea, tienes títulos como «Las reinas vampiro no son las únicas con una mordida desagradable» o mi favorito, de verdad, «Cosas que el rosa fucsia y los estilos peludos tienen en común».. hasta hay una referencia a «Watermelon Sugar» de Harry Styles! Se sintió súper actual y divertido, peeero, no todo es perfecto. El libro es de esos que arrancan lento, ¿saben? A mí me tomó como 150 páginas, más o menos hasta el capítulo 20, para que de verdad me atrapara.. estuve a nada de dejarlo, pero qué bueno que no lo hice, porque lo que viene después… ¡uff!, vale toda la pena.

También sentí que a veces la autora se pasaba de explicativa, metiendo párrafos y párrafos de información que como que sobraban, y la verdad sí fui saltándome esas partes para volver a lo bueno, a la acción. Pero miren, incluso con esos detallitos, la historia en sí es súper buena.. a diferencia de Crepúsculo, siento que los personajes acá están mucho mejor construidos, Grace no es solo la chica que se enamora y ya; tiene su propio rollo, sus propias cosas que la van cambiando. Y Jaxon, aunque es el típico chico misterioso, de verdad es un amor y es romántico de una forma que se siente fresca, diferente.. la historia es mucho más madura y emocionante de lo que yo me imaginaba.

So, who is this book for? Well, if you're looking for a fast-paced, fun YA fantasy with an addictive vampire romance, this is for you, hands down. If you're a Twilight fan, I think you'll love it, but listen, you have to read it with an open mind and without constantly comparing everything. My advice is to ignore all the marketing and just let the story sweep you away. Honestly, I have a theory that Tracy Wolff is a genius; she knew that by making it look like Twilight, people like me would buy it as a joke, only to end up completely hooked. Well, it worked perfectly on me. That's why, for me, this book gets a solid 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Despite its minor flaws—the slow start and the sometimes simplistic prose—the entertainment value is on another level. It gave me everything I ask for in a good guilty pleasure: suspense, romance, humor, and a world that, honestly, I didn't want to leave. I can't wait to dive back into this whole world. If you're in a reading slump or just want to read something that will entertain you a ton, seriously, I highly recommend this book. And well, friends, that's it for today's review. Take care! Bye!

A ver, si andan buscando una fantasía juvenil que sea rápida, divertida, con un romance de vampiros de esos que enganchan, esto es para ustedes, de una.. si son fans de Crepúsculo, yo creo que les va a encantar, pero ¡ojo!, tienen que leerlo con la mente abierta y sin pasársela comparando todo el tiempo, mi consejo es que ignoren todo el marketing y nomás se dejen llevar por la historia. Yo, la verdad, tengo la teoría de que Tracy Wolff es una genio; sabía que al hacerlo parecer Crepúsculo, gente como yo lo iba a comprar de chiste, para terminar completamente enganchada.. pues, conmigo le funcionó a la perfección. Por eso, para mí, este libro se lleva un 4.8/5 estrellas, bien sólido.

A pesar de sus detallitos —que arranca lento y que la prosa a veces es medio simplona—, lo que te entretiene es de otro nivel, me dio todo lo que le pido a un buen placer culposo: suspenso, romance, humor y un mundo del que, neta, no quería salir, me muero de ganas de volver a meterme en todo este rollo, si andan con bloqueo lector o simplemente quieren leer algo que los divierta un montón, en serio, les súper recomiendo este libro.. y bueno amigos, hasta aquí la reseña de hoy, cuidense mucho!
