Yes, that new version of the movie, like Paranormal Activity, must have been something innovative at the time. Although I haven’t watched the movies, I do know that it was something very innovative for that era.

I think a few similar movies have been made, but none were successful.
I believe audiences didn't care for watching a movie from the perspective of a computer screen.
