Moses is famously placed in a basket and set adrift on the Nile River, where he is found by the Pharaoh's daughter. This mirrors the story of Sargon of Akkad, a famous ruler of ancient Mesopotamia, who was also said to have been placed in a basket and set adrift in a river, only to be found and raised by a royal family. Sargon's story is one of the earliest known "foundling" myths in history.
