A Masterpiece! Mother Of Death & Dawn By Carissa Broadbent || Book Review

This book is the finale to the War of Lost Hearts trilogy. I have written raving reviews of the first and second book, not knowing the third book is the best of the three.
In this trilogy, this author begins a slow dance with her readers from the first book. We are introduced to magical realms at war, and at the heart of this story is the slave girl, Tisaanah Vytezic. Every breath in her longs for freedom and she spills blood, hers and others, to claim it. While training to be a dark war machine, she meets a recluse, Max, who was once like her but was shaped by betrayal.
Then the author delves deeper in book two focusing on two characters, Aefe and Cadaun, whose story takes us back to the beginning—the reason for the war. At the heart of their tale lies a horrifying betrayal and shocking twist that leaves me agape for days after. They become essential to Max and Tisaanah's journey and their fight for freedom.
In Mother Of Death & Dawn, the author, without fear and favour, takes us through raging battlefields of spears, swords and magic, through oceans and streams flowing not with water but blood, and into the minds and actions of monsters with Tisaanah, Max, Aefe and Cadaun at the center of it all.
Halfway through this third book, I find myself wondering what these four characters have in common, whether Max will find his way back to Tisaanah after they had been torn apart, and whether the Fey and humans can set aside their greed and hubris for a better world.

My Review And Rating
I give this book a standing ovation in my mind after reading. The author finishes this series strong even though I find myself wishing for the story to continue. So much happens in this third book that effectively ties up all subplots and give the characters satisfying endings. I was shattered and close to tears many times but the author mended my heart at the end.
The plotline is finely tuned and brought to a satisfying fruition. No subplot is left open or hanging. All the characters are held accountable, good or bad, and their endings are memorable. The development of all the characters in this trilogy, their roles and personalities, are outstanding.
Aefe is a unique character that will stay with me always. She's chaotic, full of rage and bloodthirsty at first. I hated her but we cannot truly know a person until we understand their beginning. When the author gives us a peek into her foundation and how she came to be, I'm speechless and sympathetic. And the way the author writes her ending is fitting.
Tisaanah and Max are the perfect couple and I have a soft spot for them. They are compatible, their chemistry is sweet and convincing. They are admirable because of their courage, love and strength in the face of so much injustice in their world. They want freedom for their people and work to get it selflessly even though it almost cost them their lives.
Also, the final battle scenes are simply epic in my opinion. The action sequences are very well written. They are so vivid in my mind that I feel like I'm fighting alongside these characters on the field.
Rating this book, I will give it 5 stars. Without a doubt, this is a series that will live long in my memory. The story is moving, admirable and well written. Though the books are a bit thick but they are worth reading. So I'll definitely recommend this series to fantasy readers.

The story of the friend is incredibly beautiful. In fact, for a friend's war, a soldier must be honest and reliable, then victory is possible.
